With this post, I start a series on the Restaurants in Bangalore that we visit. It could be an indicator for different types of Restaurants available in Bangalore for the Food Lovers.
Oh! Calcutta is preferred Restaurant for Bengali Food in Bangalore for us. We visit 2 restaurants for Bengali Food in Bangalore – Oh! Calcutta and Bhajo Hari Manna.
I relate our visit experience on 26-Feb-2019. We normally eat at Oh! Calcutta once every 3-4 months.
Our preference for Oh! Calcutta over Bhajo Hari Manna are as follows:
On 26-Feb-2019, Maa was returning to Kolkata by Duranto Express. We dropped her at the Yeswantpur Railway Station. The train left on time at 11:00 AM. We wanted to pick up our Ayurvedic medicines for Diabetes on our way back. When we arrived at the Medical Shop, we found that it was closed. When we called the owner, he told us that he would come within 5 minutes. So, we waited. Eventually, he did turn up and we took the medicines.
However, it was already about 12:30 PM. It would get late for Deepshree to return home and cook our lunch. So, we 2 decided to eat at Oh! Calcutta and pack food for Riya and Ranoo.
We reached Oh! Calcutta at around 1:00 PM. The Valet took our car for parking. We had to choose between Thali and a la carte. We choose to go for a la carte and ordered Rui Maach (Rahu Fish) Dum Jhol for Deepshree and Golda Chingri Malai Curry (Tiger Prawn) for me. Along with that we ordered Basmati Rice. We also asked them to pack Rui Maach Dum Jhol for Riya and Ranoo.
The Restaurant got some starters after taking the order.
Waiting for the food to arrive, we ordered “Aam Pora Sarbat” for myself. “Aam Pora Sorbat” is Juice made out of Green Mangoes by first roasting them. It is a Bengali Speciality.
Deepshree ordered a Fresh Lime Soda with Salt.
We had to wait for about 20 minutes before our food arrived. There were 3 other large parties in the Restaurant when we were there.
After lunch, Deepshree felt like having something sweet. This was a rare demand. So, I ordered one Misti Doi. However, after having one spoon, she found it very sweet and left it for me.
We were done. The Manager got the packing we had ordered for Riya and Ranoo. Before getting the bill, he got us some Souf (Mouth Freshner).
