I have been to Kualalumpur only once. In fact I have been to Malaysia only once.

NIIT Annual Day

In 1997, NIIT decided to hold the Annual Day function for the South East Asia operations in Kualumpur. I was working in Thailand at that time on the TAC project.

We were all part of NIIT Ltd at that point of time. Later our Software Division was created into a new company called NIIT Technologies Ltd. However, this was after I had left NIIT.

Journey by JAL

Our office got our Malaysian visas. We did not have to go to the Malaysian Embassy for the same.

We were booked on Japan Airlines Flight from Bangkok to Kualalumpur. Our flight started at around 11:00 PM. So, we reached Kualalumpur early next morning ( I would rather refer to it as very late in the night).

Stay at Shangri la

Our team of around 30 members (we could not take our families with us), checked into Shangri la. Our function was to be organised in the same hotel during the day.

We got some sleep. The next morning, I got ready and had a lovely breakfast.

Then we all assembled for the function at around 10:00 AM.

Awarded for Excellence

After all the speeches by the CxOs, we had some cultural events. From Thailand team, we played a skit. It was a big hit.

Then came the Award function. I received one the awards. It was for Excellence. It was a cash award of Bhat 2000 and a citation. I was very pleased.

The function finished at around 1:30 PM. Then we had lunch. This was the first time, I interacted directly with Mr. Rajendra Singh Pawar.  It was a wonderful meeting. He spent about 10 minutes at our table during lunch. I got to ask one question about Customer handling and got a very good answer that I remember till date and practice it.

Roaming around in the City

After lunch, we set off on foot to see a bit of Kualalumpur. Our return flight was again late in the night at around 10:00 PM.

Minara Kualalumpur

We had done some research and so we walked towards Minara Kualalumpur. It was rthe second highest building the Kualalumpur after the Petronas Tower.

Minara Kualalumpur

We climbed on top of this tower. We got a beautiful view of the city of Kualalumpur.

After spending reasonably long at Minara Kualalumpur, we started walking towards Petronas Tower. Soon, we were at the spot.

We saw Petronas Tower from the road as we did not have time to climb up.

On the way to the Airport

By the time, we were finished at Petronas Tower, it was evening. So, we took a taxi back to the Airport. We crossed this beautiful building on the way.

The reached the Airport well in time to take our flight back to Bangkok.

Am basically a programmer. Have proved to myself and quite a few people over the 24+ years that I am capable of programming on most platforms using quite a few tools for most problems. However, to be viable for earning a living, have learnt a few tricks and techniques of management. Whatever management techniques I have learnt, I try and convert to simple logic flows to keep my decision process simple and transparent. While managing, have been successful in programming a few individuals and teams to meet required objectives. Though I am not creative, I have enormous potential to innovate and extend creative ideas generated and shared by others.
